ISO certifications and standards

IFCA is committed to the pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement and currently holds two international certifications: UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems) and ISO/IEC 27001:2017 (Information Security). These certifications help our organization to improve the efficiency of scientific-technical services and to minimize risk by following the principles reflected in our Integrated Quality and Information Security Policy

The purpose of the IFCA Quality Unit is to promote, disseminate and implement the "quality culture" in the institute, aligning ourselves with the general Quality policy, indicators and objectives of the University of Cantabria and the CSIC.

The IFCA currently has UNE-EN ISO 9001:2015 certification for several of its scientific equipment and services, a recognition granted by AENOR (Spanish Association for Standardisation and Certification) that proves the conformity of the quality management system with the standard. Its scope covers:

- Dimensional verification of parts.

- Semiconductor electrical characterisation.

- Precision machining.

- Service and access management of computing infrastructure.

In 2021, IFCA's Advanced Computing service obtained ISO/IEC 27001:2017 certification for information security, which applies to the information management systems supporting the service and access management of computing infrastructure. The purpose is to improve information security management (minimizing risks and preserving the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information) and to have a greater impact on calls for computing projects at the national, European and international levels
