Las mañanas IFCA con Iván León: "Taming our oscillatory world"

Start date: 10/06/2022 12:00 End date: 10/06/2022 13:00

"From our heartbeat to lasers, we are surrounded by oscillations. Despite the different mechanism of the oscillations, we can abstract them through the mathematical concept of oscillator. Having a deep understanding of the possible dynamics of ensembles of oscillators is crucial to answering fundamental questions as how our brain works or what can be done to avoid electric power failures. Despite the importance of this problems, the big dimensionality and the complexity of systems make them difficult to tackle. In this talk we will review the basic ideas of oscillatory dynamics. Finally, I will speak about some of my thesis results, mainly application of phase reduction, a method to simplify oscillators dynamics and all we can learn from it."
