International Women's Day 2021

One more year from IFCA (CSIC-UC) we reiterate our commitment to equality to achieve a just and democratic society, claiming it through ambitious actions

This March 8th, International Women's Day, is marked by health crisis caused by SAR-CoV-2, an event that has affected, in addition to the economic, labor and social level, in the field of effective gender equality between women and men.

In Europe, only one third of research personnel are women. At the top of academic positions, women occupy only 24% and, in case of STEM fields, only 15%. 

On the other hand, in Spain and other Western countries there are still certain branches of science and technology, such as physics and computer science, with few women. For these and other reasons we adhere to statements of CSIC and the Universidad de Cantabria with the aim of making Instituto de Física of Cantabria an inclusive and fair institution.

With the aim of continuing to make women and researchers visible and create new references, the institute has organized an agenda of activities in the coming days to commemorate the International Women's Day:




  • Joint Centre with the combined effort of Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and University of Cantabria (UC)
