Are you interested in basic physics?
Do you want to work with our team and gain experience in the various research projects carried out at IFCA?
Prepare your application!
The Instituto de Física de Cantabria (CSIC-UC), in a constant search for young talent of any nationality to join its team, is committed to university or pre-university students by supporting research through various scholarship schemes and research grants. For this purpose, we inform about open calls for grants for pre-doctoral contracts for the completion of doctoral theses. These are the opportunities available to work with IFCA's research staff and carry out a doctorate in any of the institute's lines of research:
- Grants for the training of university teachers (FPU) 2020
As part of the State Plan for Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation 2017/2020, these grants are intended for research training in doctoral programs for the achievement of a doctoral degree and acquisition of university teaching skills, in any area of scientific knowledge, to facilitate the future incorporation of these people into the Spanish system of higher education and scientific research.
The call for applications is open from November 16th to December 11th, 2020 (14:00 CET). You can find complete information about the call here:

Advanced LIDAR systems based on Optical Frequency Combs and Chaotic Signals
Deep learning models in climate downscaling
Extreme sensitive detectors for Dark Matter searches and quantum imaging
Optical frequency combs for microwave and Terahertz applications
Physics exploitation of high-energy proton-proton collision data recorded with the CMS experiment
Qualitative software engineering and computational techniques for reproducible research
Searching for Dark Matter with Gravitational Telescopes
Unveiling the microwave sky with advanced data analysis techniques
