AYA2012-39767-C02-01: AThena (Advanced telescope for High Energy Astrophysics): Definition Phase. Development of TES-based sensor arrays.
This rolling grant presents a comprehensive
plan for the Spanish participation in the Definition phase of Athena+
payload, specifically the X-IFU (X-‐ray Integral Field Unit)
instrument. X-IFU is a cryogenic calorimeter array based on Transition
Edge Sensors, which will deliver spatially resolved high resolution
spectroscopy, opening new capacities in the study of the extreme
Universe. The proposed contribution to the Definition Phase of X-IFU by
Spain (in collaboration with SRON-NL IP institute) will be developed in
two work packages: the Event Processor Performance Verification and
Software and the Development of the front end (TES-‐based) sensor
array with SRON.
This research proyect comprises the participation of the following Spanish institutes:
- IFCA (Instituto de Física de Cantabria CSIC-UC)
- ICMA (Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Aragón CSIC-UZ)
- ICMAB (Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Barcelona, CSIC)
- IMM (Instituto de Microelectrónica de Madrid, CSIC)
