International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

November 25 is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

The declaration on the elimination of violence against women issued by UN in 1993 defines violence against women as "any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life." Such violence is a social problem that is not restricted to a culture, region or specific country, nor to specific women groups in society.

From the IFCA Equality and Diversity Commission we would like to share the United Nations proposal, together with two videos released this week by the Unidad de Mujeres y Ciencia del Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, to raise awareness, sensitize and prevent sexism, sexual harassment and harassment because of gender in those working environment dealing with science and innovation.
