Last Friday, the awards ceremony for 'I Research. I am CSIC' contest took place at CSIC headquarters in Madrid. Three winners were announced and will receive up to 5.000 euros for grants, and finalists will be awarded up to 700 euros to attend a specialist course or a scientific congress.

In this first edition of the call, focused on the popularization of science, a clear objective is sought: that researchers and pre-doctoral researchers in training of the CSIC bring their research and present their basic work of their doctoral theses to a non-specialized audience.

Out of a total of 25 finalists, 95% were women, as well as the 10 winners.

"From IFCA we would like to cheer all participants and especially our colleague Andrea García Alonso, PhD student at the Instituto de Física de Cantabria (IFCA) on silicon sensors, who was one of the three winners of the competition".
